Rhea
Won a Grand Award at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)
The Story
ISEF is the world's most prestigious science competition for high school students. Earning a Grand Award places a project among roughly the top 50–100 student research projects in the world. Rhea had already developed an ambitious project — NeuroStride, a novel algorithm combining gait analysis with cell-free DNA (cfDNA) biomarkers to improve early detection of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's and dementia. But success at ISEF requires more than great science: it demands a compelling story and the ability to defend every detail under intense judging. Paired with Personify mentor Kevin, Rhea refined her narrative, strengthened her presentation, and completed over 25 practice judging sessions with challenging technical questions. She didn't change her research — she learned to present it with confidence, clarity, and maximum impact.
