Dr. Joy Qiaoyi Li, PhD, MS is an engineer and applied physics researcher with 9+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in nanophotonics, spectroscopy, and sensor engineering. She earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Duke University (GPA 3.97) and her BS in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University (Magna Cum Laude).

Her work focuses on the design and experimental development of nanoplasmonic sensing systems — combining nanoparticle synthesis, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), photonics, and machine-learning spectral analysis to build high-sensitivity detection platforms.

Joy has extensive practical engineering lab experience, including nanoscale device fabrication, optical spectroscopy systems, signal analysis, and experimental sensor optimization. She has mentored students in laboratory research environments and presented at multiple international photonics and spectroscopy conferences.
